CECA Southern is running a tax briefing on IR35 / Reverse Charge VAT on Thursday 7 May 2020.
Did you ever handle Off Payroll Working? Do you know what the change to Reverse Charge VAT will involve? Or are you hoping that if you ignore HMRC they will ignore you?
The legislation called ‘Off Payroll Working’ started on 6 April and means that anyone who uses workers who use their own limited companies to avoid NIC will become responsible for that PAYE even if they only pay the limited company direct or pay via agencies or intermediaries. It is now important to CEST test everyone who works regularly in your offices and sites and who is not in your payroll to test whether they should be paid with PAYE deducted.
In October anyone paying a subcontractor who is VAT and CIS registered will not pay VAT. If you are a major subcontractor with smaller subcontractors working for you, working for a main contractor, this means that very little VAT will be paid to you or by you. Cash flow in the length and breadth of Construction will change and there is a big risk of bankruptcy if firms have not planned ahead.
Liz Bridge (The Construction Industry Joint Taxation Committee) will show you how both Off Payroll rules and the Reverse Charge rules will work and how they will change the costs and cashflow in construction in very dramatic ways.
The event will be held at the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation, 119 Britannia Walk, London N1 7JE, commencing at 10:00 and finishing at approximately 12:15 with lunch and is free to members.
