Future projections for the South West region continue to look very positive. Major investment in nuclear new build at Hinkley and in ongoing flood defence and coastal engineering works is driving this, but there is no room for complacency. We must continue to lobby government for further improvements to our regional rail services and ensure that it sticks to its ambitious programme to fund Highways England’s upgrade of the A303. CECA (South West) will continue to play its part in supporting members to meet the challenges, as well as the opportunities, presented by these strategic infrastructure developments.
Members are encouraged to contribute towards and influence regional and national priorities within our industry through active participation in CECA South West activities.
Regular liaison meetings with principal clients, regulatory bodies and local and regional government officers provide extensive networking and business development opportunities through inter member and member/client contact.
Relations have been established with key regional LEPs and will be developed where appropriate to raise LEP awareness of the need for ongoing investment in infrastructure, whilst understanding some of the key industry issues that may impact on this.
Quarterly Members’ Meetings include presentations on topical issues and provide members with the opportunity to network.
Members are given free access to a wide range of technical and legal/contractual presentations, bespoke training on topical industry and member issues and full use of its free Construction & Law Helpline.
