We are pleased to announce that our members’ meeting on Wednesday 23 June will be focussing on education and how we can strengthen the ties between academia and our industry.
Our first speaker has worked in contracting for several years but he recently returned to Plymouth University as a mature student. His final year dissertation explores how colleges and universities could work more closely with contracting companies to help provide the resources and skills we all need. Adam Brazier, known by those who know him as ‘Digger’, will reveal his findings and recommendations.
Our second speaker will be a two-handed affair with Robin Goodman of Exeter College and David LeFeuvre of Weston College who will explain all we need to know about ‘T’ Levels and how they will provide a new stream of young people for contractors with practical and technical ability. This is your opportunity, by working with these colleges, to develop and mentor these people and help mould them into the future young engineers and technicians which our industry so desperately needs.
Spending Review
Marie-Claude Hemming, CECA’s Director of External Affairs, will be joining the meeting to discuss the upcoming Spending Review. Marie-Claude is looking to get an understanding of what members’ concerns are on a regional basis and this will be fed into a paper that CECA is submitting to HMT by the end of July.
All members are welcome to attend. If you would like to attend please notify Leone Donnelly.
