Anyone involved in street works or road works needs to know about the Safety at Street Works & Road Works Code of Practice in detail.

We have arranged a training course to explain exactly what staff are required to do if they are to comply with its requirements.  Non-compliance is a criminal offence. Failure to comply with the Code is evidence of failing to fulfil the legal requirements to sign, light and guard works.

A statutory undertaker, and those working on its behalf, carrying out work under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, must comply with this Code for their own works.

Whilst operatives would benefit from the course, it is mainly aimed at supervisors, managers, planners and designers who are responsible for making sure that all street and road works are safe for both operatives and the public.

The course consists of going through the Code in detail to give delegates a clear understanding of the contents – and what they must do to comply.

The speaker is Tom Lambert; he is Morrison’s National Streetworks Manager, but is doing this presentation privately.  Tom was on the Working Party which produced the Code – so he knows everything about it!  He is also involved in the preparation of the new edition, which should be published this year, and so will be able to give delegates an insight into what changes to the Code are on the horizon.
