CECA North East Foundations Group (our young professionals Board) are collaborating with Generation 4 Change (G4C) to visit the North East Institure of Technology (NEIOT) Technology Suite at New College Durham.
The NEIOT is a collaboration between further education providers, Universities and employers and specialise in delivering hoigher technical education (level 4 & 5) with a focus on STEM subjects.
The NEIOT concentrates on advanced menufacturing & engineering, construction & digital.
During this visit you will experience the facilities that are on offer within the STEM centre which is a purpose built facility and includes state of the art equipment to deliver Built Environment Programmes.
The huge ‘Active Wall’ is the showpiece of the Digital Construction Presentation Suite, offering the capability of a regular PC in addition to running VR software – Visionary Render. Sensors linked up to the screen that pick up movement from 3D glasses and ‘flystick’ allow movements around a 3D virtual reality scene with first person viewpoints at a 1:1 scale of a project. 3Dproject designs created in Revit can be exported to Visionary Render and uploaded to the Active Wall for presentations to project teams and clients.
In addition to the Presentation Suite, New College Durham provides a collaborative workspace with access to laptops with VR capability, large screens and a tracked VR booth where the view of the VR user can be shared on a big screen.
The Design Suite (separate IT suite) holds 16 PC’s with individual VR headsets and controllers running AutoCAD, Revit and Visionary Render installed enabling building designs to be produced and experienced in VR.
