This webinar is open to all
We know that UK workplaces are less comfortable talking about race than they are about other diversity issues, such as age and gender. According to research by BITC, only four in ten employees (37%) say colleagues are comfortable talking about race in the workplace. 42% of white employees report this compared with 34% of employees from a BAME background.
14% of the working age population are from a BAME background and it’s more than 40% in London, Birmingham and Leicester but in the construction sector, according to the DwP just 3.3% of construction sector employees are from BAME groups.
There is obviously a huge global conversation on race taking place at the moment and the BAME community is feeling additional anxiety due to the disproportionate impact of Covid-19.
This webinar will be the opportunity to understand more about race, the impact of institutional discrimination and how to challenge the people around you when needed. The webinar is primarily to look at how to ally for our BAME colleagues and how everyone can be part of creating an inclusive working culture.
By attending this webinar, you will:
- Understand how to ally for your BAME colleagues
- Recognise institutional discrimination and the need to identify it and remove it
- Improve confidence in challenging inappropriate behaviour when it occurs
