CECA is passionate not just about building the infrastructure of tomorrow – but the workforce that will deliver it. That’s why CECA North East’s Management Board has proudly awarded its 2025 College Bursary Program, helping to support the next generation of civil engineers.
The College Bursary Program was created in line with two of our core pillars:
-
Careers & Recruitment: Creating a Talent Pipeline
-
Sustainability, Climate Change & Social Value: Creating a Better Environment for All
By providing direct financial support to students pursuing qualifications in civil engineering and related fields, the CECA NE Management Board aims to inspire young talent and reinforce our industry’s future.
CECA North East offered £500 bursaries to one outstanding student from each of five partner colleges:
- Hartlepool College of Further Education
- Middlesbrough College
- New College Durham
- Newcastle College
- Derwentside College
The awards are available to students who are enrolled in a full-time civil engineering course, or a related subject, such as those studying to be the region’s future groundworkers and quantity surveyors.
Following the successful launch of the bursary programme in 2024 this year’s scheme has once again been once again, been delivered by members of the CECA NE Foundations Group, who put in a huge amount of work with the colleges and undertook candidate interviews – CECA NE would like to thank them for their support.
The winning students were:
Eva Denning of Middlesbrough College
Tom Harding of New College Durham
Emily Carney of Hartlepool College
Kai Wears of Derwentside College
Elliott Pike of Newcastle College.
Commenting, CECA North East Director Stuart Miller said: “At CECA North East, we believe the future of our industry starts in the classroom.
“Through the CECA North East College Bursary Program, we’re proud to support young people who are choosing to build their careers in civil engineering and the built environment.
“These students represent the next generation of talent, and we’re committed to helping them succeed — for the good of our industry, our communities, and our region.”
