It was mid November, in the south of Wales near Crickhowell, and, between the storms, the weather was pretty good! Which was great for our young civil engineering apprentices who took part in the fifth CECA Wales Leadership Challenge in partnership with the Army in Wales.
The CECA Wales Leadership Challenge is an unique partnership between the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) Wales and the Armed Forces which is aimed at increasing the leadership potential of our younger members and improving collaboration between our sectors.
As well as the physical aspects of working alongside their peers there was a programme of activities to test their mental agility and technical capabilities. At the end two very enjoyable days you could see the increased confidence, self-awareness, awareness of others and personal resilience in each of them. And what’s more they had a great time doing it (I think!). And, hopefully, they built up a network of contacts for the future!
If you want a taste of how they got on take a look at our video https://youtu.be/jQoqs1PQgH8
And if you know any candidates who you think would benefit let me know as we’re already planning our next Challenge for the north of Wales in Spring 2023.
