The meeting at Sandy Park was action packed with over 40 CECA SW Members in the room and four speakers:
Jason Hones, Regional Director, National Highways. Jason updated CECA SW members on all things ‘National Highways’ in the region, including current project delivery and frameworks under RIS2, future procurement and NH strategy for RIS3, opportunities for SMEs as well as major contractors – and how the future roads agenda is being viewed by the new Labour Government in light of the recent A303 Stonehenge cancellation. Paul Lowndes, Programme Director, Gravity/Salamanca Group. Paul talked about how Gravity is on course to become a catalyst for Clean Growth in the South West with its economic impact felt right across the UK. The vision of building a forward-thinking, sustainable, energy efficient and high performing campus is fast becoming a reality. The newly established commercial development on the site of the former Royal Ordnance Factory at Bridgwater has already attracted its anchor business, Agratas, to help create an employment hub supporting an active ecosystem of businesses. Paul Barker, Project Director, 1Energy Group Limited 1Energy is planning to invest more than £200m into city centre district energy projects in the UK over the next 6 years and Paul Barker shared with CECA SW members 1Energy’s plans to install a low-to-zero district energy network across Exeter. This is a significant opportunity for SW contractors to gain an understanding of what’s involved in the project and how they can support its delivery. EEN Presentation – CECA SW event 18 Sep 24
Laurence Stone, Senior Customer Engagement Manager – South West, CITB Laurence explained to members how CITB is looking to establish its Employer Network very shortly to advise on how the construction levy should most effectively be spent and what training should be directly funded. All CECA members are invited to apply to become a part of this network.
